Dr. Peter Klepsatel

Principal Investigator

Peter holds MSc degrees in Geology-Paleontology and Biology-Genetics from Comenius University in Bratislava. He earned his PhD in Genetics from the Institute of Population Genetics, University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria, in 2014, where he studied aging and life-history traits in Drosophila melanogaster. After completing postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany, focusing on energy metabolism and thermal stress in Drosophila, he returned to Slovakia. Peter is now a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Zoology, Slovak Academy of Sciences, leading research on phenotypic plasticity, thermal biology, and energy metabolism.

MSc. Emanuel Makwisa

PhD Student

Emanuel holds an MSc in Environmental Science from Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary, and a BSc in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. He has a strong background in biology, ecology, and pest management, with extensive experience studying both vertebrate and invertebrate species. In addition, his fieldwork as a Wildlife Conservation Officer at the Tanzania Wildlife Authority provided him with hands-on experience in conservation and ecological management. Emanuel is currently on leave from his position as an Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of Pest Management in Tanzania, where he focuses on the biology and control of insect and rodent pests. His PhD research explores phenotypic plasticity in insects, aiming to deepen our understanding of how organisms adapt to environmental changes.
